Therapeutic Art Group: Zentangle/Mandalas: Diana Robinson and John Davis

This therapeutic art group for ages 16+ invites participants to explore healing, mindfulness, and self-expression through the creative practice of Zentangle and Mandala art. These structured yet calming art forms encourage focus, grounding, emotional regulation, and present-moment awareness while providing a gentle outlet for stress reduction and self-reflection.

Research continues to support the clinical connection between creative expression, mindfulness-based practices, and improvements in anxiety, emotional overwhelm, trauma symptoms, and overall mental wellness. The repetitive patterns and intentional design process used in Zentangle and Mandala work can help calm the nervous system, increase concentration, promote relaxation, and create a greater sense of inner balance and self-awareness.

What if you could create a love letter to yourself — not with perfection, but with honesty, healing, and hope?

Join us for a deeply meaningful therapeutic art group where creativity becomes part of the healing process. Through weaving, texture, color, written affirmations, and artistic expression, participants will create a one-of-a-kind visual reminder of their strength, resilience, and worth.

As each piece is interwoven together, so are the parts of ourselves that may have been hurt, silenced, overlooked, or forgotten. This experience is about reclaiming your voice, reconnecting with your identity, and learning to hold yourself with compassion.

SELF WORTH PORTRAITS (Therapeutic Art Group): Diana Robinson and John Davis

Self-Worth Portraits is an adult, therapeutic art group designed to help individuals reconnect with one’s identity, strengths, and inner value. Using personalized silhouettes layered with empowering words, affirmations, and meaningful imagery, participants will create visual representations of the beauty, resilience, and worth they carry within themselves. This supportive, trauma-informed experience encourages self-expression, confidence-building, and healing through creativity and connection.

This group requires a fee for non-clients, $25.00.

About John: John Davis is a lifelong resident of Central Pennsylvania with a deep passion for the arts, creative expression, and community engagement. After a successful 15-year career in the corporate world, John dedicated the next 25 years to the Milton Hershey School, where he served primarily as a High School Art Teacher and School-wide Coordinator of Visual Arts, inspiring generations of students through creativity and experiential learning.

John currently maintains a shared studio space at The Millworks.

A dedicated advocate for the arts community, John has served as President of the Hershey Area Art Association and held board positions with the Art Association of Harrisburg and Jump Street. He currently serves on the boards of the Susquehanna Art Museum and Sprocket Mural Works. In addition, John has contributed his expertise as an entry juror for Habitat for Humanity’s annual Art Auction for more than a decade, as well as for Harrisburg’s annual Artsfest.

Drawing inspiration from travel, life experiences, and human connection, John explores a wide range of artistic mediums including acrylics, oils, watercolors, mixed media, ceramics, and mosaic design. At the heart of his work is a commitment to helping both youth and adults discover their voice, purpose, and passion through the transformative power of visual arts.

John will be co- facilitating two therapeutic art groups in May with Center for Hope and Healing therapist, Diana Robinson. Active clients can sign up at the front desk and non-clients can sign up through events on our Facebook page.
